The World Loses A Leader- Maya Angelou Dies June 01 2014

The world lost a true leader this week. Maya Angelou died at the age of 86. She was an author and a poet, singer, actress, play wright, dancer, professor, and civil rights activist. She wrote more than 30 books and received many awards including The Presidential Medal of Freedom from President Barack Obama.

In 1969 she wrote an autobiography called I Know Why The Cagebird Sings, which was about her troubled life including abuse and racism. She was known for her way with words. There are so many great quotes from Angelou. One of my favorites is “If you are always trying to be normal, you will never know how amazing you can be.” Maya Angelou was definitely an amazing human and leader and inspired the world.
